We know that substance use is already high among high school students, but it increases at university. It also seems that between male and female patterns of substance use become more pronounced during this transition. This panel and audience dialogue will tackle these issues considering the following questions: Should health promotion related to substance misuse be developed specifically for this transition period and if so, what should be the key elements? What initiatives currently exist to address this transition period and what evidence do we have for their effectiveness? How can students be engaged to take a lead in these health promotion initiatives? What are the barriers/challenges and how can we reduce these?
