Using Contact-based Education to talk about Substance Use on Post-secondary Campuses

In the mental health field contact-based education (CBE) has been used to raise awareness, reduce stigma and encourage dialogue about mental health issues among target audiences This workshop will describe the adaptation of contact-based education to address substance use issues and their associated mental health impacts on post-secondary campuses. Specific considerations for the recruitment, support and involvement of student speakers will be reviewed. Audience discussion will focus on key messages delivered through student narratives that are most likely to be connected to positive change and ways to integrate contact-based education activities on campus.
